Founded in 2011, eCrime is the research group (at the Department ‘Faculty of Law’ of the University of Trento) on digital criminology (or eCriminology), which represents the 21st century-evolution of criminology.
eCrime combines different scientific disciplines (criminology, law, statistics, information sciences, etc.) to conduct applied research on crime and security in the current digital society: it deals with old and new crime/security issues with new methods and tools.
The research group is coordinated by Andrea Di Nicola (scientific coordinator; associate professor in criminology at the Department ‘Faculty of Law’) and Giuseppe Espa (vice-scientific coordinator; full professor in economic statistics at the Department of Economics and Management).
eCrime has a fluid structure: it is composed by internal members (professors, researchers, research fellows, PhD students, and other collaborators) from the University of Trento, and by other Italian and foreign researchers from other universities and organisations.
Results of the research activities carried out by eCrime constantly flow into the contents of the courses offered within the Department ‘Faculty of Law’ (University of Trento), providing to students a always updated teaching.
