
Results of the research activities carried out by eCrime constantly flow into the contents of the courses offered within the Faculty of Law (University of Trento), providing to students a always updated teaching. The educational offer in the criminological area consists of four elective courses (corsi complementari), four optional courses (corsi liberi), and one workshop (laboratorio applicativo).

APPLIED CRIMINOLOGY

The course of applied criminology deals with the study of “how” criminological research contributes to solve crime and security problems and to support prevention and contrast policies. The course intends to provide students with the instruments to apply the theoretical criminological knowledge, acquired during the course of criminology, to investigative, intelligence, and to those decisions on the most appropriate measures to be applied to prevent crime and social disorder.
DIGITAL CRIMINOLOGY

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and tools to: a) understand if and how the digital society is transforming crime, the characteristics and behaviours of perpetrators and victims, social reactions, and criminological research; b) apply what has been learned in the interpretation of literature and sources (e.g., data and statistics) on crime and criminology in the digital society; c) develop criminological analyses and evaluations on the relationship between the digital society and crime.

EVALUATION OF POLICIES AGAINST CRIME

The course presents and describes the tools for evaluating policies against crime, an area in which criminology meets law. The aim is to make students acquire the elements to understand if and how crime prevention and fight policies work and how it is possible to make them more effective and efficient. The course, after introducing the theories and approaches to evaluate policies, offers the opportunity to think about how and why policies work or don't work through specific case studies. Participants will acquire the most appropriate methods and indicators for evaluating the impact, costs and benefits of crime fighting / prevention policies.
