Gabriele Baratto spoke at the international conference “Protection of victims of trafficking in human beings. Building on consolidated experiences to address new challenges“, held in Turin (Italy) at the “Sala delle Colonne” on November 10, 2022.
The event (which marks the two-year Free2Link project) provided the opportunity to review and assess modern modalities of trafficking and e-trafficking in particular. Retracing the structure that the Directive suggests to intervene on the phenomenon (thus focusing our efforts on Prevention, Protection, Persecution and Partnership) the conference aimed to make use of the participation of competent and internationally recognized speakers, and to create an opportunity for exchange between different European actors active in combating e-trafficking.
Baratto gave the introductory speech of the congress, entitled “The Digitalisation of Human Trafficking“: the speech summarized the main results and analysis of the research activities carried out on this topic by the eCrime group (and now also by the Centre for Security and Crime Sciences – University of Trento and Verona) over the last 10 years.
